The purpose of the website and mapping application is to provide access to information so the public can participate in the marine spatial planning process and express unique ideas to marine resource managers. The marine planning law (RCW 43.372) requires the state to produce interactive maps and incorporate public participation into the planning process.
The data viewing mapping application was created at the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) under contract for Marine Spatial Planning. Data shown in the application is drawn from various sources, compiled, prioritized, formatted, categorized, and added to the viewer. All data displayed is public information that is continuously updated by original data owners. Some data was collected for the marine spatial planning process and is hosted at DNR. Look for regular updates to data and information displayed in the mapping application.
Secure access may be provided for individuals or groups that are looking to connect private data to the mapping application functionalities. Please fill out and submit the request form to pursue a request for secure access for sensitive data. Please fill out the form here.
